Celotex TB4000

Celotex TB4000 is a part of the Celotex PIR Rigid Insulation Board range. This consists of TB4000, GA4000 and the XR4000. TB4000 itself is made up of three thicknesses. These are 25mm, 30mm and 40mm. These are the thinnest PIR insulation boards that Celotex manufactures. The board itself is 2400 x 1200 mm in length and width. These length and width dimensions are the same across all the Celotex PIR board range.

Celotex PIR Board – TB4000

The Celotex TB4000 insulation boards can be used in a variety of applications. They are easy to cut and install. These boards even boast superb thermal performance with a thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/m.K. The TB4000 achieves an A rating when compared on the BRE Green Guide. It also has certification from BBA. Celotex is a forward-thinking company who are constantly thinking of innovative ways to provide insulation. The TB4000 has been specifically designed to conform to the building standards of the future.

When using Celotex TB4000, it is important to ensure that the use of this board in your application meets all national building regulations, in addition to national and local standards. This includes requirements in relation to fire and height restrictions.

Every Celotex TB4000 product page features a datasheet as well as full technical specifications. The R-Value of each product differs on the thickness of the board. Each TB4000 board achieves the rating Class 1 – BS 476-7 for the spread of flame.

What are Celotex TB4000 boards made from?

Celotex TB4000 insulation boards are made from rigid polyisocyanurate, which is otherwise known as PIR. PIR is thermoset plastic, which is formed into a foam. To complete these boards, a layer of aluminium foil is glued onto the board. This foil facing helps to improve the insulation properties of the TB4000. The finished product is then cut into boards of various thicknesses.

TB4000 is popular as it can be easily cut and installed. For guidance on installing TB4000 insulation board – read our Celotex PIR Board Installation Guide.

Some people refer to the Celotex TB4000 as ‘thin Celotex’ as it is at the lower end of the thickness scale when it comes to Celotex Insulation Boards. The boards themselves are lightweight with a low emissivity foil facing. The Celotex TB4000 range is the thinnest Celotex PIR board, which is a reason why it is popular. This lightweight PIR board is available on our website at our best possible price. The Celotex TB4000 board has a thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/m.K, which can help to reduce the thickness of insulation needed to hit the target U-value.

Celotex TB4000 Applications

The TB4000 can be applied to a variety of applications. It is worth noting that Celotex TB4000 should not be used in external walls of buildings that are 18 metres or taller in height in England & Wales or 11 metres or taller in Scotland. This is due to recent changes in building regulations that have meant that only non-combustible or very limited combustible materials can be used in a building that tall. It can be considered for floor, wall and roof applications. A list of applications for the TB4000 can be found below

  • Flat Roofs
  • Solid Masonry Walls
  • Pitched Roofs
  • Flooring
  • Timber Framed & Steel Framed Systems

What is the difference between TB4000, GA4000, and XR4000?

Celotex PIR insulation boards are all 2400mm by 1200mm with a thermal conductivity of 0.022W/mK. The boards range from thickness between 25mm and 200mm. The PIR boards thicknesses are split into three different ranges – GA4000, TB4000 and XR4000

How do TB4000 insulation boards prevent thermal bridging?

Although the TB4000 boards are thinner they still provide a thermal conductivity of 0.022W/mK.
The thinner board means it can be installed in areas where thicker insulation boards are not advised or combined with other board sizes to give extra insulation.
The space saving board is a great combination with a stud wall as it blocks over all frames and gaps where cold air could come through or cold air could escape – thermal bridging – without reducing too much of the space within the rooms.
