Description

Unilin 77.5mm XT/TL insulated plasterboard is an insulation panel that consists of a PIR insulation core (polyisocyanurate) bonded to a sheet of 12.5mm tapered edge plasterboard with a composite kraft facing. Unilin products are durable and reliable due to their high-quality products using in the manufacturing process. The 2-in-1 Thin-R board offers a combination of high-quality thermal insulation and seamless drylining in one application.

Key Features of 77.5mm Unilin XT/TL Insulated Plasterboard

  • Provides a 2-in-1 solution for both insulation and drylining in one product
  • The composite kraft vapour control layer reduces the risk of condensation
  • Can be easily and securely installed using either fixings or adhesive
  • Offers high thermal efficiency which in turn minimizes heat loss
  • Improves energy efficiency and reduces environmental impacts
  • Made to ensure longevity and performance
  • Manufactured using sustainable materials and processes

Unilin insulated plasterboards have an incorporated integral vapour control layer (VCL). The VCL will help to minimise the risk of condensation and moisture, and damp build up.

The Unilin Thermal Liner boards provide no food value when it comes to pests or vermin and, providing they are installed correctly, are rot proof and will last for the entire lifespan of the building.

77.5mm Unilin Insulated Plasterboards

The thin-R 77.5mm insulation plasterboard, with a thermal resistance of 1.20m²K/W and a thermal conductivity of 0.022W/mK, plays a crucial role in minimising heat loss.

The thermal resistance is the materials ability to resist heat flow and the higher the thermal resistance the better. The thermal conductivity indicates how easily heat can pass through the board and in contrast the lower the thermal conductivity the better.

This combination of properties will work together to reduce heat transfer levels going through the walls, floors, and roofs, essentially the entire building envelope. Thermal conductivity and resistance will slow down the rate at which heat escapes, reducing the need to consistently heat and cool the property, leading to reduced energy waste and consumption. Not only will Unilin insulated plasterboards enhance the comfort and living environment within your home but help to cut down on energy bills such as gas and electricity. A cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution.

These XT/TL boards are used for internal walls, ceilings, lofts, pitched roofs, and flats roof applications. The property type includes residential and commercial buildings for projects on new builds, renovations, and extensions. Whether you are deciding to build from scratch or upgrade an existing property, insulating your home will provide improved living conditions and reduced environmental impact.

Wall Insulation
77.5mm Xtratherm (Unilin) insulated plasterboard XT/TL can be used to insulate and apply a finish to internal walls. It can be applied directly to masonry walls or over a timber or steel frame. Unilin XT/TL can also be applied to partition and stud walls.

Ceiling Insulation
Unilin can be used to insulate the ceilings by directly applying the insulated plasterboards to the existing ceiling using longer screws. This will prevent hot air moving between floors through the ceiling.

Loft Insulation
XT/TL 77.5mm insulated plasterboards can be installed in loft spaces by fixing the thin-R boards directly to pitched roof rafters and wall frames. This will reduce heat loss and create a smooth finish to the walls, which is great if you are decorating and using the space.

Garage Insulation
When insulating a garage space, insulated plasterboards are a quick and effective solution particularly when converting the garage into a usable space such as a home office, annex, playroom, or man cave.

Due to the kraft paper facing of the boards these insulated plasterboards will be suitable for fixing with proprietary adhesive bonding materials in a dot and dab method. The boards are also suitable for mechanical fixings.

FAQs

What does XT/TL stand for?

Xtratherm Thermal Laminate.

Can you put Unilin Insulated Plasterboard Directly onto Brick?

Yes, block or brick walls are great when directly attaching insulated plasterboards as they provide a reliable surface that works well with adhesive and bonding products. This also eliminates the need to install a stud frame and insulation boards followed by plasterboard.

Do Unilin Thin-R Insulated Plasterboards Need an Air Gap?

Insulated plasterboards are designed to be applied directly to the walls with no need for an air gap providing the wall meets building guidelines and regulations.

Can Foil Backed Insulated Plasterboard Be Dot and Dabbed?

Foil backed plasterboard cannot be applied using dot and dab applications. The bond between the foil and board may weaken over time and peel, the foil may also slip from the adhesive.

Do Unilin (Xtratherm) Insulated Plasterboards Need to Be Skimmed?

Insulated plasterboards provide a surface that is smooth and can be painted and decorated directly. Alternatively, to achieve an exceptionally sleek finish, a thin layer of plaster skim can be applied and sanded prior to decorating or painting.
