What is Unilin

The rebrand from Xtratherm marks their progression to one of Europe’s largest PIR insulation manufacturers and global suppliers of building products to the construction industry. Xtratherm has been serving the construction industry for over 20 years and continues to do so under their new name. For 30 years Xtratherm was a market leader across the UK and Ireland in the construction industry. The Unilin group began in 2016 and Xtratherm adopted the name in 2023.

Unilin manufactures a wide range of products designed for the construction industry including insulation boards for roofs, floors, walls, and loft spaces, helping to create warm, comfortable, energy efficient home and office spaces. Their high-quality products are versatile and easy to install.

The Unilin Xtratherm products are suitable for timber and steel frame applications and dot and dab applications within new builds, refurbishments, and extensions. The Unilin or Xtratherm insulation with improve the thermal quality of the building meaning less heat wasted and lower energy bills. With Unilin Xtratherm products improving the thermal envelope of the building, less heat is released into the environment meaning a more energy efficient property with minimised contribution to global warming. Unilin Thin R

One of Unilin’s most well-known and used products is Xtratherm Thin-R PIR insulation boards. Unilin Thin-R is a high-performing board that consists of a Polyisocyanurate (PIR) core with low emissivity foil facings bonded to each side. The thermal conductivity is just 0.022W/mK. The boards are 2400mm by 1200mm and the PIR Core is CFC-free and not harmful to the environment. These quality boards are available in thickness between 25mm to 165mm with a squared edge. They create the ultimate comfort within residential and commercial buildings by maintaining a controlled internal temperature.
The Thin-R range can be installed within flat roofs, pitched roofs, floors, solid walls, timber and steel frame applications. The Unilin (Xtratherm) boards are moisture resistant and resist mold, fungi, and bacteria.
