Description

15mm Vapour Panel Tapered Edge plasterboards are manufactured by multiple brands, however the manufacturing process ensures they are virtually identical in performance and quality, producing a like-for-like product. Our plasterboards are sold unbranded, meaning when you purchase Vapour Panels online from Insulation Board, you will receive a board from any one of the brands we stock. The plasterboards we stock include popular and reliable brands and products including British Gypsum Gyproc Wallboard Duplex, Knauf Vapour Panel, and Siniat Vapour Boards GTEC. This allows for quick and efficient delivery without the delays of sourcing specific brand requests.

Vapour wallboards are made with an aerated gypsum core bonded between premium Ivory paper liners on each side with a metalised polyester foil backing on one side of the board forming a vapour control membrane. 15mm Vapour panel boards are designed to prevent moisture from effecting the building. These Vapour boards are also perfect for achieving a seamless finish on the walls and ceilings ready for jointing, plastering, painting, and wallpapering. Vapour panel plasterboards are a crucial element in construction for protecting the internal walls, ceilings, and floors as well as the attic and roof from water vapour. By creating a barrier from water vapour, it will in prevent condensation from forming, reducing the risk of rot, damp, or mould growth.

15mm Vapour Panels

The vapour plasterboards are often referred to as foil backed plasterboard due to its distinctive silver foil backing, is a popular choice within residential and commercial buildings. With a thickness of 15mm, it is designed to form a block between moisture and the buildings internal envelope. This 2-in-1 product combines a vapour control layer and a standard sheet of plasterboard. While offering the same properties as a standard plasterboard, it features an additional film backing.

15mm vapour panel application types

15mm tapered edge vapour plasterboards are versatile and can be applied to large timber and steel structural framing systems in the ceiling or walls using mechanical fixings to secure the boards. Vapour barrier plasterboards can be used in areas where it is key to maintain condensation which is often in areas where the warm and cold elements of the walls and ceilings interact. The spaces where warm and cold areas are at risk of interacting such as the external and internal side a wall may need vapour barrier protection.

These tapered edge vapour plasterboards are light and easily cut using a sharp blade or plasterboard saw and quick to install. The vapour plasterboard should only be installed with mechanical fixings, due to the foil backing of the boards they are not suitable for fixing with adhesive in a dot and dab method.

Here at Insulation Board, we always recommend consulting a professional before any construction works begin, due to the frequently changing building and construction rules and regulations. Before installing your vapour panels, be sure to have a contractor or building professional review your plans. In the UK, vapour plasterboard must meet specific standards dependent on the building type and application – walls, ceilings, floors. Plasterboards must meet British compliance standards and must be used in accordance with manufacturers guidelines.

15mm Vapour Panels TE Vs 12.5mm Vapour Panels TE?

15mm tapered-edge vapour panels are a standard choice for projects where an additional thickness is necessary to provide extra strength to support the building structure and enhanced durability is required in larger buildings or areas prone to wear and tear. In additional although 12.5mm vapour panels can be doubles up, it may create a thickness that is not necessary.

Please note, we also sell 12.5mm vapour panels, if you require them.

What is the Different between plasterboard and wallboard?

Plasterboard is commonly referred to as drywall or wallboard. Essentially plasterboards, wallboards, and drywall are all the exact same thing. These boards are typically used for walls and ceilings to achieve a smooth finish. Due to their aerated lightweight gypsum core, plasterboards are also well known as gypsum boards.

How do I Cut a Vapour Plasterboard?

To cut a plasterboard, start by measuring and marking the board to fit the space in question. Make adjustment for openings and fixtures such as windows and sockets. Use a fine-toothed or plasterboard saw to cut along the measured markings or a sharp blade or knife to score and snap the board. Alternatively, to cut holes within the board, use a jab saw to easily push through the board and make an opening.

Do I Need A vapour control layer behind plasterboard?

Installing a vapour barrier in areas where humidity levels are high, and ventilation is poor is a good choice. This can be achieved by apply a vapour control layer directly behind the insulation or plasterboard, or in addition to a vapour control layer behind the insulation, opt for a vapour panel plasterboard that has a built-in foil vapour barrier.
